Stoneham is a true mountain getaway. Bordering the White Mountain National Forest and New Hampshire many homes here offer grand mountain views with many lakes dotting the landscape below. Stoneham has access to both Kezar and Keywaydin Lakes, and also is home to the largest undeveloped lake in the White Mountain Region Lake Virginia.
It is easy to see where the town's name originates with the excessively stony landscape. Stoneham is popular with snowmobilers and hikers with endless backroads and trails. It is also known as a great destination for climbing in Evan's Notch.
